Local player, Roger Waters, graded 111, is having the time of his life and finds himself joint-leader, having beaten the British U-150 Champion, John Gorodi. How long can it last? Yet every year produces surprise results and unexpected performances – it’s one of the joys of the Seniors. At least Gorodi must be favourite for the Slow Starter prize (0/2). Perhaps this was his cunning plan, all along!  Another pairing was J. E. Robertson and Robert Jones, where Robertson had travelled the furthest to play, from East Kilbride in Lanarkshire, Scotland, while Jones lived the nearest to the venue - about 1 mile. Not only that, but their names were anagrams of each other. ‘Twas only fitting, therefore, that a draw be the result.

Hibbitt on his way to a fine draw against Norman.

Thynne vs Toms (nearest).

Gordon on his way to win against Hazel Welch.

Dave Rogers (B) got a creditable draw against Wells.

Robertson v Jones - nearest and furthest from the venue.
